Dear Father,

New Year’s greetings! With schools opening today, the new year is well and truly underway. It is also that time once more when our hearts and minds turn to the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity on 18-25 January, uniting ourselves to that prayer of Jesus himself: ‘…that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me’ (John 17:21).

The resources for the 2024 Week of Prayer were compiled by the Holy See together with Churches and other Christian communities in Burkina Faso, under the theme “Go and do likewise”. This is drawn from the parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke’s Gospel (Luke 10:25-37).

The resources (including resources in the Irish language) are available on this link (prepared for us by Churches Together in Britain and Ireland): Resources for Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2024 (ctbi.org.uk)

Remember, it is a good idea to use at Mass the Missal’s prayers for unity during the Week of Prayer and also the Eucharistic Prayers for Reconciliation. You can suggest it as a prayer intention at Sunday Masses.

Regards,

Brendan
