St. Senan's Education Office
St. Senan's Education Office is a specialist support service established by the Diocese of Limerick, along with the Dioceses of Killaloe, Kerry, and the Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly, to provide guidance and assistance to Boards of Management of Catholic primary schools across these four dioceses.
Located at the Diocesan Centre in Corbally, Limerick, the office is an important resource for anyone involved in the governance or management of a Catholic primary school.
What the Office Does
The core mission of St. Senan's Education Office is to ensure that Boards of Management have the information, skills, and support they need to carry out their responsibilities effectively. The office provides advice and practical assistance across a wide range of areas including:
- Board of Management governance — including child protection, buildings and use of school premises, board training, roles and responsibilities, and financial management
- Recruitment — step-by-step guidance on recruiting Principals, Deputy Principals, teachers, and Special Needs Assistants, as well as Garda vetting support
- Staff relations — including leave entitlements, disciplinary procedures, and grievance processes for teaching and non-teaching staff
- Data Protection / GDPR — advice on schools' obligations under data protection legislation
- Department of Education circulars — a regularly updated resource of circulars and information notes relevant to primary schools
- Parents and guardians — resources covering Parents' Associations, parental complaints procedures, and wellbeing guides for families
