Supporting Marriage and Relationships in the Diocese of Limerick

Accord Catholic Marriage Care Service is the Catholic Church’s agency for marriage and family support in Ireland. For many years, Accord has provided professional relationship counselling, marriage preparation, and family support services rooted in the values of respect, dignity and compassion.

The Diocese of Limerick works closely with Accord to support couples and families at every stage of life.

    Marriage Preparation

Accord provides pre-marriage courses for couples preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage. These courses help couples to:

    • Reflect on the meaning of Christian marriage
    • Explore communication and conflict resolution
    • Discuss expectations, finances and family life
    • Strengthen their relationship before their wedding day

Participation in a recognised marriage preparation course is normally required for couples marrying in the Catholic Church.

    Relationship Counselling

Accord offers confidential, professional counselling services for:

    • Married couples
    • Engaged couples
    • Individuals experiencing relationship difficulties

Counselling is available regardless of faith background and provides a safe and supportive space to explore challenges, improve communication and work towards healing and understanding.

    Supporting Families

Accord also provides programmes and resources that promote healthy relationships and family life. Its services reflect the Church’s commitment to the dignity of marriage and the well-being of families as the foundation of society.
