History of World Environment Day
In 1972 in the conference held on Human Environment began from 5th to 16th June at United Nations, World Environment Day was first established to be celebrated every year by running some effective campaigns by the United Nations General Assembly and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
Two years later, in 1974 the first [WED] was held with the theme "Only One Earth".
This year the theme of World Environment Day 2020 is “Celebrate Biodiversity”. “With 1 million species facing extinction, there has never been a more important time to focus on biodiversity.”
