Annual meeting of the Irish Episcopal Conference

The Annual meeting of the Irish Episcopal Conference and the Bishops of the Church of Ireland takes place in Dublin

In the spirit of the recommendation of the International Anglican/Roman Catholic Commission for Unity and Mission (IARCCUM) that there should be regular meetings of Anglican and Roman Catholic bishops in individual countries to discuss common concerns, the eighth such meeting was held in Dublin on 25 September.

In an atmosphere of spiritual communion, listening to and learning from one another, typical of the ‘receptive ecumenism’ that encourages mutual learning from one another, the bishops explored together the Agreed Statement of the Third Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission (ARCIC III), Walking Together on the Way, and discussed topics of mutual interest such as education, the celebration of marriage, contemporary formation for ministry, and the decade of commemorations.

The 2020 meeting is planned for 23rd September in Dublin.
