33 rd Sunday - Year B

S: Good morning - As we come towards the end of the Church year – we are reminded about the end of time, not in a depressing way but in a hopeful one.

B: Our word of life for today comes from Mark’s Gospel, where Jesus says, “my words will not pass away”. By saying this Jesus reminds us that – with him there is always hope, that he will always be there for us. And this might be hard to remember sometimes in this day and age – what with all the violence we see reported on the television and in newspapers. With all this gangland violence, drugs and murder, we could well ask; what’s the world coming to?

S: And that’s a very good question – one that a lot of us are asking these days and I guess that we know that there are no simple answers. But one thing each of us must do is constantly seek out the good in our own lives and let that remind us that there is a lot of good in our world. In a world of suffering, hope is a most precious thing. May we never lose hope.

B: This morning we’re going to read the peace prayer of St. Francis and we dedicate this to all those who work for peace in our city and county.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace

Where there is hate let me bring love

Where there is guilt let me bring pardon

Where there is division let me bring unity

Where there is error let me bring truth

Where there is darkness let me bring faith

Where there is suffering let me bring joy.

S: Lord, let aim of my life be to comfort

Rather than be comforted

To understand rather than be understood

To love rather than be loved

For when we give we receive

When we pardon we are forgiven

When we die we enter life.
