31 st Sunday - Year B

S: Good morning - This is the first Sunday in November, the beginning of a special month where we set time aside to remember those who have died.

B: Our word of life for today comes from Marks Gospel where Jesus is on the cross “ He gave a loud cry and breathed his last”. These are very powerful words because they tell us how far Jesus was prepared to go for us – it’s during these words on Passion Sunday that we pause in silence and kneel for a moment.

S: Communicating with each other can be difficult enough but trying to communicate with our loved ones who have died, now there’s a challenge! But talking to those, “who have died and we have loved”, isn’t really that dramatic. Death should be no barrier to communication and that is why we pray for and remember those who have died, remembering that to God, all are still alive.

B: Of course we do miss the people we have lost and our reflection this morning is called Miss Me But Let Me Go.

When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me

I want no rites in a gloom-filled room, why cry for a soul set free.

S: Miss me a little but not for long, and not with your head bowed low

Remember the love that we once shared, miss me… but let me go.

B: For this is a journey we all must take, and each must go alone,

It’s all a part of the Master’s plan, a step on the Road to home.

S: when you are lonely and sick of heart, Go to the friends we know,

And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds, Miss me… but let me go.

Before we go this morning we would like to let you know that Fr. Carlos Mesters, internationally recognised expert in ‘Lectio Divina’, will be giving a talk next Thursday evening at the Dominican Biblical Centre. Fr.
