27 th Sunday - Year B
S: Good morning - today we’re on about children and how they deserve the very best, now in case you think we’re on about the materialistic things of life - we’re not. We’re not talking about the computer, the scooter or the mobile phone; we’re on about far more important things than these
B: Our word of life for today comes from Mark’s Gospel “let the little children come to me”. Children are obviously very important to Jesus. He holds them up as an example to adults - their boundless energy, questioning spirits, enthusiasm and openness to learning - these are badly needed qualities for all of us in life.
S: So the question we are left with is: Do we bring our children to Christ as he has invited us to do, do we introduce them to the person of Jesus? Do we teach them their prayers? Do we even give time to the questions they ask about life?
B: Our Reflection this morning is called a Little Bit of Heaven
There's a little bit of heaven in every child of God,
And every seed of kindness sown, is sown in fertile sod.
There’s a little bit of heaven within the Christian heart,
For once the Spirit dwells there, it becomes a work of art.
There’s a little bit of Heaven in every hymn we sing,
For when we sing His praises, it’s a many splendored thing.
There’s a little bit of heaven in every passing day,
For the Father loves His Children, and keeps in touch that way.
S: Today is also Emigrant Sunday when we remind ourselves about the importance of hospitality. Today we pray for our loved ones living abroad, that they may find happiness and be respected wherever the are and that we take the opportunity to keep in touch with them. Likewise, we pray for asylum seekers and refugees in our country - that they be met with understanding and that they get a Cead Mile Failte and that we remember that there can be no strangers for the Christian - there is no “them” only an “us”.
B: You’ve been listening to “Just a thought” with Brenda Cribbin...
