Fourth Sunday - Year B
S: Good morning - today we’re on about making time for quiet in our lives because our world can be a busy place.
B: I know - everyone seems to be rushing these days. Health professionals and life coaches are recommending that we sit down and think about our main values in life, for example: family, friends, health, prayer. Doing this can help us to prioritise our time.
S: Our word of life for today comes from Mark’s Gospel and its simply the words “Be quiet” two such simple words but very hard to put into practise and yet its only by being quiet that we discover what’s really important in life.
B: The English poet Hopkins put it well, he said that God is present in the deep down things of life and that if religion is anything it is seeing and knowing God in the Deep of things. I guess finding God in that place of quiet brings us peace and that’s what we really need today. So maybe you might take some quiet moments for yourself each day. Our reflection today is called a young person’s prayer.
S: God of my life,
help me to appreciate the special way that you have gifted me,
so that I will be fully alive and so that many others
will be the better for having met me or known me.
help me to be free, loving and generous.
Give me a listening ear, so that I will discover the things
that are really worth living for.
When I’m down and life is tough, don’t let me lose heart,
and show me that you are always there by my side.
Amen.
B: Before we go we would like to remind you of a very special concert which will take place next Friday week.
