Baptism of the Lord, Year B
S: Good morning - today we’re on about lights and candles and we’re conscious that if the lights haven’t already come down for Christmas - they’ll be coming down soon.
B: I suppose the Christmas Season is really over and its back to normality, certainly all the children are back to school tomorrow, but the spirit of the season should remain with us the whole year through.
S: Today we celebrate the feast of the Baptism of the Lord and it’s really a reminder to us of our own baptism - one part of the baptism ceremony that I really like is when parents and God-parents light a small candle for the child: signifying that they will do their best to pass on the Light of Faith.
B: I guess that’s the call for all of us really, to pass on what we believe to others or in other words to share the Light of Christ and make a difference. Seamus you have a nice reflection for us this morning called "The Difference"
S: I got up early one morning and rushed right into the day:
I had so much to accomplish that I didn't have time to pray.
Problems just tumbled about me, and heavier came each task.
"Why doesn’t God help me?" I wondered.
He answered, "You didn't ask".
I wanted to see joy and beauty, but the day toiled on grey and bleak;
I wondered why God didn't show me.
He said, "You didn't seek."
I tried to come Into God's presence; I used all my keys at the lock,
God gently and lovingly chided, "My child, you didn't knock."
I woke up early this morning, and paused before entering the day;
I had so much to accomplish that I had to take time to pray.
B: Maybe a good New Years resolution. You’ve been listening to Just a thought with Brenda Cribbin
