6 th November 2005 – 32 nd Sunday, Year A

S: Good morning, today we are on about being attentive to this present moment. This moment is really all I have and I'm being invited this morning to live it well, to use this moment well.

B: Our ‘Word of life’ for today comes from Matthew’s gospel "stay awake, because you do not know either the day or the hour" - well that really puts it up to us.

S: So, the call to "stay awake" is, if you like, asking us to concentrate on the 'now' and live our lives as best we can in this present moment.

B: Seamus you’ve a nice prayer for us this morning by a Native American Indian………………

S: O Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the winds, and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me. I am small and weak. I need your strength and wisdom.

Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.

Make my hands respect the things you have made.

Make my ears sharp to hear your voice.

Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught your people.

Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.

I seek strength, not to be greater than my companion, but to fight my greatest enemy - myself.

Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.

So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you.
