FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER – YEAR A

B; Good morning,this morning I would like to welcome a very special presenter, Margaret Dalton. Welcome Margaret!

M; Good morning Brenda, I am delighted to join with you today. Iwork in administration in the Dioscesan offices, here in Limerick.

M; Today is Vocations Sunday – it’s a day in which we appreciate the wonderful involvement of God in our lives.

B: Our word of life for today comes from John’s Gospel “I have come so that you may have life and have it to the full”, and that is what vocation is all about – living life to the full. A vocation is often associated with priesthood and religious life – but we know that’s not the full story. A vocation is a gift and like all gifts it needs to be used and appreciated.

M: Appreciating our gifts is about living life to the full and to my mind:

it’s more about wiping away the tears rather than not crying at all

it’s more about deciding to love someone difficult rather than trying to change them

it’s about taking life by the scruff of the neck – mistakes, failures, sins and all and pressing on ahead – living the miracle of this wonderful life we have been given.

B: Our reflection this morning points out how God is with all the way – that we must take the risk and put our trust in Him. It’s called Disturb us, O Lord

Disturb us , O Lord, when we are too well pleased with ourselves;
When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little;
When we have arrived in safety because we sailed too close to the shore.

Stir us, O Lord, to dare more boldly
To venture seas where storms shall show your Mastery,
Where loosing sight of land we shall find the stars.

In the name of Him
Who pushed back the horizons of our hopes
And invited the brave to follow Him. Amen

M: Finally, if you feel that you would like to talk to someone about vocation particularly a vocation to Priesthood or Religious Life you may contact Fr.
