28 TH SUNDAY YEAR C

14th October 2007

D: Good morning. Today we’re reflecting on the importance of saying thanks and how easy it is to forget all th good things in our lives.

B: Our word of life for today comes from Luke’s Gospel.

“Finding himself cured, one of them threw himself at the feet of Jesus and thanked him”.

This comes from the story of the ten lepers, where only one came back to thank Jesus. I suppose the question we are left with is “Where did the other nine go to?”

D: Did they rush back to their families with the great news? These people who were banished, ostracised … untouchable! And now they were clean again! In the excitement they simply forgot to say thanks.

B: I guess this is really a reminder to us that we can all forget to say thanks and that it can be very easy to take things for granted. Even though I may feel grateful for what I have, I may not express it. When I am feeling healthy and well and everything is going great, it’s easy to forget to say thanks. But, when I’m no so well – it’s then I may feel the need of God and make all sorts of promises to him of how grateful I’ll be if things get better. I suppose really we should be grateful for everything that’s good in our lives at all times. One of the best ways of showing our gratitude to others is to share our blessings and talents as generously as we can.

D: Our life word today was a story of healing.

For those of you listening this morning who are not feeling well, a healing is dedicated to you:

Lord, at times we find it difficult to be people of healing.

So many things trouble us;

Hurt by the past, disappointed with the present

and afraid of the future.

Afraid that we may be left alone,

Afraid that the hurt may not heal,

afraid that our.lives may be wasted.

Take us to yourself Lord,

take our past, our present and our future.

Let us share in that healing which comes only from you,

that deep healing which the world cannot give,

that healing of a child resting in its mother’s arms.
