16 th Sunday - Year C
S: Good morning - it being the middle of summer, we thought that we’d do something a little different, we’re going to read a meditation – so wherever you are – just sit back and relax for a few moments.
B: This meditation was written by Nudia Star when she was 86 years old, and during this meditation called “Meditation While flying a Kite”, I want you to imagine children playing…
If I had my life to do over, I’d make more mistakes next time.
I would relax. I would limber up.
I would be sillier than I have been this trip.
I know of very few things that I would take seriously.
I would laugh more and cry less. I would be crazier.
I would worry less about what others thought of me,
And I would accept myself as I am.
S: I would climb more mountains, swim more and watch more sunsets.
I would watch less T.V. and have more picnics.
I would have only actual troubles and very few imaginary ones.
I would feel only sad not depressed.
I would be concerned, not anxious.
I would be annoyed, not angry.
I would regret my mistakes, but not feel guilty about them.
B: I would touch my friends.
I would forgive others for being human, and I would hold no grudges.
I would play with more children and listen to more old people.
I wouldn’t place such a great value on money.
S: You see, I am one of those people who lived cautiously and sensibly and sanely, hour after hour, day after day.
Oh, I’ve had my moments, and if I had to do it over again, I’d have more of them.
In fact I’d have nothing else, just moments, one after another, instead of living so many years ahead of each day.
B: If I had to do it over again, I’d go places and do things and travel lighter than I have.
I would plant seeds and make the world more beautiful.
I would express my feelings of life without fear.
I would ride more merry-go-rounds, and pick more daisies and I’d smile!
S: Well I couldn’t think of a better way to end my involvement with Just a Thought on Limerick’s Live 95fm. As some of you may know I am off to Kosovo with the Defence Forces soon and so I will not be back with you in the Autumn. However Brenda and “Just a thought” will be back…. Hopefully she will have a new co-presenter. I have been with you now each Sunday for the past eight years and I would like to thank you the listener and everyone here at the station for your encouragement over that time. All I ask is that you keep us in Kosovo in your prayers.
B: You’ve been listening to “Just a thought” with Brenda Cribbin
S: and Seamus Madigan. We can be contacted through the Limerick Diocesan Offices at Henry Street. You can also download your own copy of this reflection by clicking on limerickdiocese.org
B: We are now taking a little break for the summer. “Just a thought” will be back with you again in September – so until then, take care!
S & B: Bye !!!!!!!
