11 th Sunday - Year C

S: Good morning - today is Father’s day – but first a question that Jesus puts to us this Sunday.

B: This question in our word of life for today – from Luke’s gospel – where Jesus asks the Disciples “Who do you say I am?” – It’s a testing kind of question really – who is Jesus for us – because it affects the way we interact with him.

S: The answer to this question, Who Jesus is for us, affects for instance the way I pray – it affects the way I view the kind of world I want to live in. It affects the relationships I have with people – for example how willing I am to love and to forgive. Our experience of these things really can come from our parents in a big way and today we especially thank god for our Fathers and Grandfathers.

B: Our reflection today reminds us that there is no need to worry we are in God the Fathers care.

Through the darkness of this life, I travel every day;

But there’s no need to worry for I have found “The Way”.

And I know He will guide me, wherever I must go,

So there’s no need to worry, God’s word has told me so.

And there’s no need to worry even in the darkest night,

For I’ll keep looking forward, and I will see His light.

And he will lead me down the road, as narrow as it is,

But still no need to worry, because the road is His.

So why waste any time at all, not a minute, hour or day,

When there’s no need to worry, once you have found “the Way”.

S: So a very happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s and Grand dads out there, we hope you have a lovely day.

Before we go this morning we’d like to remind you that the annual Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help has just begun at the Redemptorist Church and will run until next Saturday 23 rd. We hope that you will be able to attend some of the prayer sessions.

Also we wish a safe journey to all those traveling to Lourdes next Thursday with the Limerick Diocesan Pilgrimage.
