Easter Sunday - Year C
S: Good morning - and a very happy Easter to you. It is Easter Sunday - a day of hope, of flowers and candles, new colour and new light.
B: and also a day of Easter Eggs, big dinners and family gatherings. Today we celebrate when Jesus rose from the dead, a day of great joy when the women arrived at the tomb to find it empty. It’s a day of beginnings - Seamus you have a reflection for us this morning called “Help us to believe in beginnings.
S: God of history and of my heart,
so much has happened to me during these whirlwind days.
I’ve know death and birth
I’ve been brave and scared
I’ve hurt, I’ve helped
I’ve been honest, I’ve lied
I’ve destroyed, I’ve created
I’ve been with people, I’ve been lonely
I’ve been loyal, I’ve betrayed
I’ve decided, I’ve waffled
I’ve laughed and I’ve cried
You know my frail heart and my frayed history -
and now another day begins.
O God, help me to believe in beginnings
and in my beginning again,
no matter how often I’ve failed before.
Help me to believe in beginnings
to make a beginning
to be a beginning
so that I may not just grow old
but from now on anew
each day of this wild amazing life
you call me to live
with the passion of Jesus Christ. Amen
B: Before we go we would just like to say a big thank you to all of you who help out in your churches over the past year and especially all of you who were involved with Easter ceremonies. In your own way you help to make our churches more welcoming places for so many people, so well done and thanks for your commitment. Well done also to everyone in Adare for the Palm Sunday liturgy on television last Sunday.
S: You’ve been listening to “Just a thought” with Seamus Madigan
B: and Brenda Cribbin. We can be contacted through the Limerick Diocesan Offices at Henry Street. You can also download your own copy of this reflection by clicking on limerickdiocese.org
