Diocesan Organisations
PRELATURE OF THE HOLY CROSS AND OPUS DEI
Opus Dei was founded by St. Josemaría Escrivá in 1928, and Pope John Paul II erected it as a personal Prelature in 1982. It is made up of the Prelate, Bishop Javier Echevarría, incardinated clergy and laity. The lay men and women of the Prelature continue being faithful of the Diocese in which they live, and are under the Diocesan Ordinary in everything which the law determines for the faithful in general.
Members of Opus Dei try to promote a deep consciousness of the universal call to holiness and apostolate in all sectors of society, and more specifically, an awareness of the sanctifying value of ordinary work.
