New Buildings, Renovations, Etc.

(a) Churches:

St. John's: Repair and upgrade of the heating system in the Cathedral.

St. Mary’s: The Organ has been completely refurbished and upgraded by the Dublin firm of R.E. Meates & Son Ltd, organ builders. A survey of external repairs to the church has been carried out and a team of advisers has been put in place for the project.

Our Lady of the Rosary: The church was painted internally and externally, a new carpet was laid in the church and the sacristy.

St. Nicholas: It is planned to build a small room onto the side of the church which will be used as an Oratory, Prayer Room and Meeting room.

Abbeyfeale: The church was rewired and new lights were fitted inside, a new heating system and new boilers were installed, the entire inside of the Church was repainted and automatic doors were installed.

Athea: Interior of the church was painted and the sacristy was renovated. The church central heating was upgraded.

Dromin/Athlacca: Phase one of Athlacca Church restoration has begun.

Mahoonagh: Renovation of Feohanagh sacristy in progress.

Monagea: The stained glass windows of the church were removed, cleaned and replaced. The car park was extended and a new perimenter wall constructed, capacity has been increased to 153 cars, it is being resurfaced with tar and chips.. Extra lighting is being installed and the lighting in Church grounds has been enhanced. Drainage pipes are to be laid along the boundary. A new pathway to church grounds is under construction.

Manister: A new frontage and new windows for the entrance porch are planned .

Rockhill/Bruree: The old mortuary in Bruree church is being converted into a meeting room and prayer chapel. Carpets in the sacristy areas of both churches are to be replaced. Painting of the interior of both churches is also planned.

(b) Schools, Presbyteries, Parochial Houses etc.

St. John’s : St Johns Girl’s and Infant Boy’s school has had a complete renovation both inside an outside. An extension was built on to St. Johns Boy’s School to house a fire escape and fire safety equipment inside. The attic in the Presbytery was converted.

St. Mary’s: All windows and doors have been double glazed at St. Mary’s Girls Nationals School. The second curates house has been painted internally and carpets have been replaced. The kitchen and bathroom are being upgraded also.

Our Lady of the Rosary: New Boy’s School planned.

Abbeyfeale : All classrooms were rewired and the floors were recovered at St. Marys Boys School. Meenkilly School was rewired and new classrooms are planned. A site has been purchased for same. Extra classroom space was created in a building donated by the Mercy Sisters at Scoil Mhathair Dé. Concrete ledges were replaced and shelters were reconstructed at Knocknasna School. The Curates Presbytery was renovated. St. Ita’s Hall was painted and new stairs were installed. There were some new floors fitted at Teach na Feile.

Ardagh/Carrickerry: Both schools in the parish are now equipped with security cameras.

Askeaton/Ballysteen: The porch at the parochial House was restored, both parish houses, surrounding walls and outhouses were painted.

Athea: A new roof was put on the curate’s house.

Kilfinane: Internal painting and redecoration of parochial house currently in progress. Plans for a new school at an advanced stage.

Knockaderry: New windows were installed at Ahalin School, which was also painted. A new porch was erected at the presbytery, there was also a new shower unit installed.

Manister: Plans submitted for the upgrading of 2 classrooms and adding on two new classrooms to the school.

Monagea: New security lights were fitted at the school.

Mungret/Crecora/Raheen: The presbytery at 21 Sullane Crescent was painted, carpeted and a new kitchen was installed. The presbytery in Ballyduane was carpeted, externally painted and new blinds were fitted. A new school was built in Crecora ( Crecora NS). It was opened and blessed on October 1 st, 2006. A new GP Hall was built at St. Nessan’s National School, 5 Classrooms and 4 special needs rooms were also added. 8 Classrooms and the Administration block, including the staff room, were refurbished. All asbestos based roofing was replaced with tiles for safety reasons. It gave a more uniformed appearance to the school. These renovations/extensions were blessed and opened on September 27 th 2006.

Rockhill/Bruree: The presbytery in Rockhill was painted. It is planned to tacmacadam the grounds of the house in 2007.
