Highlights
The new Diocesan Needs Levies in 2005 were struck with a view to enabling the Central Operation of the Diocese break even. There are two significant exceptional items in the 2005 income that largely account for the net surplus of €215,525. These are an anonymous donation of €100,000 and dividend income totalling €60,484 from shares which had produced little return in prior years. These two items coupled with cut backs in office administration costs have enabled us reach this figure.
The priests and parishioners of the Diocese have responded magnificently to the Diocesan Needs Levy appeal. I want to express my gratitude and appreciation to all of you. Parishioners have also been most generous in providing funds at parish level for church maintenance and the support of the priests of the Diocese. There are also very many instances where parishioners give of their time and financial resources to help meet the many worthy external appeals for support.
I wish God’s blessing on all of you.
With renewed thanks,
Yours sincerely in Christ,
+Donal Murray
